From the Studio

Building a bridge over the uncanny valley.

Charming. Believable. Warm. The principles guiding every Orbicularis build.

Detail from the Orbicularis studio01 / Motorized

Small package. Big punch.

Measuring in at the average human fist, Lemmy packs a big punch in a small package — fully powered with a variety of electronics to provide realistic and subtle human movements, while maintaining a wide range of expressions.

Work in progress from the Orbicularis studio02 / Emotional

Beyond the uncanny valley.

In 1978, Masahiro Mori coined the term 'the uncanny valley' to describe the uncomfortable feeling humanoid robots can leave you with. Avoiding it entirely is one of our main goals — and it informs every stage of our design, fabrication, and refining.

Early Lemmy prototype03 / Versatile

Built for many worlds.

We have big plans for Lemmy. He can be inserted into a vast array of markets including medical, performative, and the ever-evolving toy industry.

Our mission

Meet Lemmy.

At Orbicularis, we are on a dedicated mission to produce the most charming and believable robot the world has ever seen. We want Lemmy to not only impress with his variety of emotions and vocalizations, but also give a sense of warmth and charisma.

When you meet him, you will not experience a cold shell full of electronics; you will only experience Lemmy.

Questions // Answers

Before you ask.

What is Orbicularis building?+

A small robot built to move with the warmth and charisma of something alive — realistic, subtle movement and a wide range of expression in a package about the size of an average human fist.

When does the Kickstarter go live?+

October 2026. Join the waitlist and you'll be emailed the moment the campaign opens, before we announce it anywhere else.

What does the $5 VIP deposit get me?+

It locks in priority access at launch, and the $5 converts into credit toward your reward when you pledge. It's refundable if you change your mind before the campaign opens.

Is the $5 deposit the final price?+

No. It's a reservation, not a pre-order. Final pledge tiers and pricing are announced when the Kickstarter goes live.

How does the referral link work?+

Every waitlist member gets a personal link. Each person who joins through it moves you up the queue and unlocks additional tiers, from behind-the-scenes build photos to a credit on the first units.

When will it ship?+

Shipping timelines are confirmed with the Kickstarter campaign. We'd rather commit to a date we can hold than guess now — waitlist members hear it first.

Who is behind Orbicularis?+

A four-person team of engineers, fabricators and animators who have spent years developing the technology, working out of our own prototyping studio.

How do I get updates before launch?+

Join the waitlist. We send build updates by email and post weekly progress on social — no spam, and you can unsubscribe any time.

Don't miss the reveal.
